5 Reasons Why We Decided To Pack It Up And Try The “Digital Nomad” Thing.

Saying the hard lockdown last year didn't have something to do with it would be a fib, and we all know what happened to the wooden puppet who couldn't keep his story straight :)

Sure, spending 12-weeks locked up at home will get you thinking about what you really want out of life, but the truth is it wasn’t necessarily one thing or another that lead us down this path.

Deciding to sell our house in Joburg (along with everything in it) didn't happen overnight. It was something we thought about a few years ago, and after that we got the ball rolling and just kept our eye on the prize, as we tried to navigate running a few small businesses, finding a little “4x4” to scoot around the county in, and desperately tried to get a decent offer on our humble abode.

And then in a blur, it was all done and dusted and we finally found ourselves pulling out of your driveway for the last time.

It was a pretty surreal experience.

So why did we decide to sell up and start a life with no fixed address?

  1. We feel like life is simply passing us by.
  2. It’s cheaper for us to AirBNB our way around than to live in our own home.
  3. We are lucky enough to work online.
  4. We don't have any kids.
  5. We love to travel.

Nervous? Sure. Excited about a life living in AirBNBs and seeing more of sunny South Africa and possibly the rest of the world?

Hell yes.

Life is short, we only have a bulldog to feed and look after, so why not take a chance and see if we can do the “digital nomad” thing? :)

Stick around as we work it all out and share our experiences with you.

Until next time.

Brendan, Gill and Molly the bulldog.

We've sold our house and packed our bags. Now we're going to back ourselves to make a buck online, so we can see more of sunny South Africa.
